Thank you for visiting our site and taking an interest in our story. We are Jean-Marc and Yannick, two childhood friends united by deep African roots and a shared vision for the future of food.
Our journey led us to Quebec, a welcoming land where we discovered an incredible culinary and cultural richness. It was here, about ten years ago, that the idea of bringing back to life a beloved ancestral dish—chikanda—began to take shape.

Much more than a traditional African dish
In Central Africa, chikanda has been a festive dish for over 100 years. The recipe is simple yet flavorful: nuts, wild orchid tubers, a few vegetables, and spices. It still took us several months—and many calls to Yannick's mother—to fully understand and master its secrets!
Chikanda is much more than an ancestral recipe: it’s a celebration of African culinary culture. A healthy, sustainable, and flavor-rich culture that deserves to be discovered!


From Végé Cube to Chika
Our business, born from a shared passion for tradition and innovation, was first called Végé Cube. After three years of delighting the taste buds of Quebecers wherever we presented our products, we chose to evolve our brand and offerings to better reflect its uniqueness and versatility.
We renamed them Chika—a short and unique name, just like our products! It's a reflection of our pride and commitment to showcasing the full culinary and cultural richness of our homeland.
